Ooc: the chains refer to the limiter placed on high ranking shinigami when they enter the human world. They are reduced to 1/5 or less of their power to avoid changing human souls

Bic: as more appear from the darkness there was a flash of kids and between her and the oncoming hollows stood hayate. She killed the one that appeared behind her as he finished the one she wounded. There were 8 more and they swoop in quickly. He blocked 3 4 missed and the last one she hit with her blade cutting it in half. The two halves move past her missing her as the 3 he held back were thrown back from the blow.

The 3 that missed all insectoid turn on their sharp feet and strike again. She blocked one he killed one and the others miss while the remaining bunch howl in frustration. These were all mindless beasts lost to hunger and so were weak and stupid.

As she waited her hell butterfly whispered an update to her searching map showing places of recent activities. She noticed they were places her trails ended. The largest was where her love went to patrol and maybe he was following his own lead.

Maybe we can track it down and see what we can find out since it's pulling the strings here." she suggested to look at him. Knowing how things go, it might be something related to it. Or was it something else?

They rest for a while after delivering their report and their intentions to confront the threat. As they rest she sat leaning against him with her head resting on his shoulder. She had a small smile of peace on her face and he was trying not to fidget or move. He liked having her close and didn't want to distract her or forget why they were in the world of the living.

We should be able to draw it out by getting close to its active area and hunting it's slaves." She said and he nodded in agreement. And hollows began to appear. Drawn out buly the power they felt the gates opened up. Surrounded on all sides and he did something she never expected. "Odore! niji uchigatana" (dance rainbow bloodblade) and she gasps as his hilt lengthened and filled with power the blade lengthened and began to ripple and stretch as the white of the blade shattered into a full spectrum of color and formed a band or ribbon of light that changed color and bewildered the eye. The multicolored ribbon fluctuated and undulating before spiraling slowly around him as the hilt became a meter in length golden baton.

She couldn't believe this was his shikai or awakened sword. She was astonished that he could do it and even more astonished to hear the name of his dazzling sword. She nearly lost her focus and smiled knowing she could u leash hers as well. As she called it's name her weapon split into two. There was energy passing between the blades as they separated one burning hot the other ice cold. The pressure they exuded increased and the hollows went into a feeding frenzy.

The ribbon lashed out as he raised the baton it curled up extending to a great height before coming down like a vast carpet. The color turned deep crimson or blood red and covered a line of hollows like a carpet holding them in place and burning them with his power. Without hesitation she leapt into the path he created and cut down the hollows on either side of her the ones cut by her firesword turned to ash and die the ones cut by her iceblade froze solid and shattered into dust mid air.

The red band holding the hollows soon turned the hollows under it to pillars of salt as it sucked their power and blood into itself using their power to hold them. He spun around as another multicolored stream came from the baton he leaped forward generating momentum for the ribbon or light behind him and lashed it out as she leaped up into a perfect backfill landing behind him as the ribbon sweeps to the side flat cutting through everything that touched the edge of the light.

He sweeps through before the Ling grows taught and a powerful hollow stopped it by hitting the flat part. The ribbon continued with the momentum originally and wrapped around the hollow that stopped it. When he broke the light the hollow was trapped in a cage of its own making and this ribbon turned yellow. She cut down every hollow behind him and they separated again as the baton was slowly turning red from the tip and it was spreading down to his hand where the grip was.

He was panting as this was the first time he ever used shikai and he wasn't used to it at all. He knew in a general sense what his power did but not hiw it did it it created ribbons of adaptable light that was fluid until separated from the baton where it hardened and leashed power from what it touched to sustain itself. The thinnest edge was invisible when seen from that angle and only the flat side could actually be seen. It cut everything the sides touched.

Her weapon was absolute hot in one hand absolute cold in the other. Nothing could stand up to these extremes singularly but when she hit a giant hollow with both the mix was a detonation that shook the whole city and parts of the surrounding area. He lashed out another crowd with his ribbon and 3 hollows were trapped in a perfect sphere that turned blue and was elastic in nature. The red was creeping to his fingers faster as the baton vibrated harder and the light produced was becoming unstable. He lashed at a gargantuan that opened behind her and she into the hollows behind him again when the creature they are waiting for burst forth.

It was no match for them. The ribbon of light turned crimson again as it wrapped around the creature. Without hesitation she turned and crossed her blades again annihilating the thing before it could cross over. The blast went into the portal and with the death of this hollow the others died as well. He let out a cry of agent and dropped his baton as the red had spread up his arm to his shoulder. The lines were on his veins and it looked like his arm was shriveling. He used too much power and it cost him dearly.

She set to work wincing as her hands came away from. Her sword after she sealed it away and she healed her hands before going to see how bad he was hurt. When she examined him she was shocked that his weapon had drained his power so much it nearly consumed his arm it was withering and she acted fast to restore his spiritual pressure to balance the problem. It was an easy fix and the simplest form of healing that could be done but still she was astonished that it drew so much of his power to perform it's abilities.

With the hollows dead and his arm more or less back to normal the light faded and the baton returned to its golden color. He picked it up and sealed it away as it returned to a normal sword. Their mission was complete and the souls they saved returned to the flow.

Even with all that power she saw he was a dangerous attack. "You okay?" she asked but she saw that he was okay but tired from the over use of his power. Osaki knew her Hayate was okay but he might need to rest for a bit before moving in a while.

"I-i think so. I hoped if I said a different name it would be different and I was right. I think I like dainiji better but that's only part of it's name." He said trusting her as he trusted his weapon. She was curious and asks

"Does it have multiple names?" He laughed.

"No it has one but if I change it it will manifest differently. I hoped it wouldn't be too mad at me. I was wrong. I think it will show me more in time." He said and he nursed his sore arm. I think I'll stop messing with the name and use the part of it's true name it gave me." She helped him up and noticed that he was tired. His power this time took too great a toll on him and she had to help him stay upright.

"Easy easy... I'll help just lean on me. " She said as she hooked his arm around her shoulders and put her arm around his. She didn't quite know how long it would take to return to their home but she knew he would be fine when he got some sleep. She remembered just how many hollows he stopped and turned her head away to hide her blush.

She knew they would be okay and flashstepped to their base. She eased him on the bed and went to go cook something to eat. The base was simple and sparse. A single room with a single bed and table with 2 chairs. She knew he was alright but her thoughts turn to her own power and how dangerous it was. She cooked a meager meal of portage and rations and sat next to him on the bed as she finished to eat with him.

She didn't look at him hiding her face and he watched her as he always did. He ate only what she gave him and didn't ask for more because the supplies needed to last the whole mission and they only brought enough for a week. She said nothing keeping her words to herself wishing he hadn't decided to experiment with his weapon and just use the name he was given the first time.

She laid down after cleaning up the meal and snuggles close. He held her in both arms and she sighed happily. They didn't talk. They didn't do anything. She wouldn't want to anyways since he had just got hurt. She didn't want to make him hurt worse by satisfying her love for him. He understood and didn't tease her or tempt her. He took his recovery seriously as he contemplated his weapon. Before long he was sleeping and she was warm and safe in his arms.
